X Factor 2009

The X Factor Judges

Show Format/Rules
The age limit for the show is 16 years old and there are four categories:

  • 16-24 Boys
  • 16-24 Girls
  • 25 and Overs
  • Groups

Audition Stages
The four judges, Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh, all work together at this stage of the competition and an act must receive at least three ‘yes’s’ in order to make it through to the next stage of the competition.

The auditions were held in five venues: London’s Excel Centre, Manchester’s Manchester Central, Birmingham’s ICC, Cardiff’s CIA and Glasgow’s Braehead Arena during June and July 2009.

Bootcamp
At Bootcamp, again all judges will work together to pick their favourite contestants from each of the four categories to take to the next stage of the competition – Judges’ Houses. At the end of Bootcamp, each judge will be allocated a category to mentor.

A Boot Camp live show was filmed on the 1st August at the Hammersmith Apollo, London.

Judges’ Houses
At Judges’ Houses stage, each judge will work alone and pick their three favourite acts to represent them in the live studio shows.

  • Simon Cowell is mentoring the Over 25’s in Los Angeles, USA, with the help of Sinita
  • Dannii Minogue is mentoring the Girls in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with the help of Kylie Minogue
  • Louis Walsh is mentoring the Groups in Tuscany, Italy, with the help of Ronan Keating
  • Cheryl Cole is mentoring the Boys in Marrakech, Morocco, with the help of Will Young

Live Shows
Live studio shows air every week later in the year.
Each week the public will vote for their favourite act to stay in the competition after watching their performance in the live show.
In the results show, the two acts with the lowest public vote will sing once again for the judges and the judges will vote on who they think should stay in the competition and who should go home.

Be prepared for a long day when you enter. I was there from 5AM til about 3PM and that was just for the first round of the auditions. luckily we had good weather while we waited outside.
Second audition was better coz we got 2 wait indoors.
      Good Luck.

the date of the final showdown seems to be a mistake…it should be December 13, and not November 13…please check your schedule above….thanks…. i must admit and agree with one of the comment of the senders…your site is far more informative than the official site of Xfactor. keep it up and more power…

  9. michelle

i missed the 2nd bootcamp episode on sunday 27th, will there be a repeat? please let me know and email me

  10. del

you have posted the top 12 already but, according to the schedule of performances and eliminations, it’s not until October 4 that the Top 12 will be announced….what’s with the Top 12 in your postings? Is it official or just the results of the polls? i’m just worried and i don’t wanna be misled because i’m supporting Ethan Boroian and he’s not in your Top 12 list…please verify…thanks so much. :D

  11. del

thanks for the quick response Judge…i’m at peace now…more power to this site…it’s better than the official Xfactor site….more informative and organized….

  12. del

i hope Ethan goes through the final 12…he’s such a charmer and he’s very talented…complete package, so to speak, and i think he’ll make it big if given the chance…i just wish that your top 12 list has Ethan on it….. :)

  13. Fiona

I’m bringing my son to London for his 13th Birthday on 7th Nov and would love to take him and his brother to the live show on that night, can anyone direct me as to how I can get tickets, we live in Scotland.

  14. kg

WTF- Why Ronan Keating! I thought that Louis would have shane Filan or Kian Egan buit Kians dad died so then I thought it would be shane. He usually has someone from westlife!! There so much better than Ronan Keating:| FS.

  15. del

OMG, i think Louie is really out of his mind….i think he needs a pair of hearing aids..or maybe he’s just so into the twins John and Edward…guys, watch the twins’ performance in the judge’s house @ the official X-factor site…..the twins made a mess in their performance, Ronan Keating was unimpressed with them and even the twins themselves admitted that they did not do well….and guess what Louie remarked after Ronan Keating made a statement, Louie: “i think the people will gonna love them” and it shows in Louie’s eyes his excitement for the twins…..OMG, Xfactor should have Sharon Osbourne again and kick Louie out…He has definitely no taste…. :(

  16. Jacqui L

I really loved Nicole Lawrence. She is a most fantastic singer and looks as though she has a huge personality. She appears to be voted off next week – but that’s the way it is on X Factor!! I would love to find out more about her – anyone know? I also liked Stacey solomon and I hope she has more luck

  17. megan

how do you get downloads? i have registered but, i havnt got an email yet!:o
    I love Lloyd Daniels:)

  18. Jthorpe

The Twins are like Ant and Dec really annoying but after losing / winning on the X Factor they’ll probably have their own TV show anyway. Like Stacey’s personality, Lloyds charm but no doubt about it, Jamie Archer to Win.

  19. Katie

  25. amillettx

does anybody know what the theme is NEXT satuday night?

  26. Mercy

I think Simon Cowell is a controverial person. He isn’t straightforward in his judgement.
He should be honest in his dealings. Star Lucie would have stayed instead of Jedward, hope this wouldn’t happen next time.
However, my best singer is Danyl Johson!!!!

    Thanks very much – Mercy

  27. Jean Herron

Respect lost for Simon Cowell. 99% of the time Simon is correct in his judgement of the contestants. Sunday 8th Nov left me in utter disgust and alarm after what he did.. He has carried on & on about how the twins just cannot sing, nor dance in time for that matter, yet he chose not to vote against them when he had the chance. Why is he a judge then i ask? Danni hit the nail on the head when she said the twins could rap and talk but not sing at al!!!!! I started wondering if i was watching “Britian has got talent” instead. The twins, bless them would not have made that show either. I realised I was infact watching the X factor! I was under the assumption that the X factor was about contestants who could sing, & sing in tune, keep a controlled tone and actually have a voice, and if they can dance as well – in time that is, well that is an plus!! I thought that was what X factor was all about! Im disgusted and appauled that Simon allowed a talented young lady Lucie to be voted out when in fact she could make a record as it is now. How many more? I’d like to request Lucie to be put back in the contest and have this an open vote to the public!!! This is unacceptable and Lucie should be voted back in by public demand…. I have lost respect for Simon Cowell and feel X factor now stands as a joke. I don’t feel like watching it any more, it has sickened me to the stomach… Put Lucie back on the show & give her the chance she deserves. There must have been another reason Simon did what he did, the public just cant see it yet. Perhaps it is fixed??? I don’t know – you tell me Simon….? My top four are… Jamie, Danyl, Ollie and well – it was Lucie!!!

  28. amillettx

What theme is it this saturday?

  29. amillettx

    Yayy!
Looking forward to it! I love Lloyd, he will be amazing!

  30. Mercy

Looking forward to seeing Danyl, I love him singing, he’s amazing!!!

    1. Dale

Too bad he’s off key so much . . . . when he is he tries to scream his way through it. I’m not sure why everyone is so adamant about Danyl winning. Since Simon is fixated with him there is no way he is not going to get a record contract. So, might as well support someone else to help them get one too.

  31. amillettx

i really really really really really really really REALLY want Lloyd to sing a james morrison song! I think he would be absolotley BRILLIANT! You give me something, or broken strings maybe? It would make me very happy, becuase i think he would be amazing! I love Lloyd, Lloyd to winn 09! :) xx

  32. Aimee

Whats the week this week then?

  33. Mercy

Danni is a great judge I love her for that. She’s straight forward.
However, I would love Danyl Johnson to be a winner though I like the way Olly and Joe sings as well but Danyl got talent.

  34. Lauren Dolan

    i luv the x factor

  35. Victoria
