Are you looking forward to this year’s The Xtra
Factor?
Yes, I can’t wait – it’s going to be a great live show.
Do you think your role has changed during the
auditions with the new format?
Not really – the job of ITV2 is to lift the mood and have
fun.
Which contestants stood out for you and why?
There was a group in Scotland and they were twins
who had actually been christened ‘One’ and ‘Two’ –
seriously – I wouldn’t have believed it until they showed
me their driving licenses.
Do you enjoy having fun with Dermot for The Xtra
Factor?
I love having fun with Dermot and we’re both very
competitive with each other. This year we’ve bought
back Presentiators – back team Willoughby and you
wont be disappointed.
Are you confident that you can retain your
Presentiators crown this year? And what was the
funniest challenge this year for you?
Blowing up a balloon until it burst was a great
challenge – I’m not going to spoil it for you but lets just
say, Dermot isn’t going to live this one down!
The Xtra Factor team always seem to be having
the most fun backstage – were there any filming
mishaps/outtakes we won’t get to see that you can
tell us about?
There are literally hundreds! The interviews with
the judges can be quite fun as a lot of the time we’ll
be chasing them down a corridor just to get a quick
snippet from them, and our cameraman will fall down
a stair or the crew be seen in a mirror behind who
we’re interviewing.
Are you pleased all the same judges are back for
series 6?
Absolutely!
Who is your favourite judge and why?
I love them all for different reasons but I do have an
extra soft spot for Louis after him being the star of
Louis’ Limericks.
You have the enviable of task of chatting with
the judges in their breaks, finding out all sorts of
interesting information – is there anything that
surprised or amused you about any of the foursome
that you would like to share with us?!
One day I went to lunch where catering had laid out
amazing food such as sushi and fresh vegetables – and
all the judges were tucking in to a very well known fast
food brand instead!
Do you always agree with the decisions the judges
make?
No, not always – I think a few have slipped through the
net this year, but what do I know!
Anything special to look out for on The Xtra Factor
this year?
Just more backstage fun – it’s the best place to get to
know your favourite contestants a little bit more.
