does any know for a fact that you can’t have backing trax with backing vocals on?
hi sammy that nothing compares i sent you is a regular sunfly track so u should be fine with that one the alica keys is a chartbuster track so u might need to have that one cleard but now i know u can use sunfly trax i can get hold of all of em !

Shazscott Thanks for all your info, but I’m confused???? even though I’m not through at the moment, I’ve been looking at the various sites listed for backing tracks. Some have vocals coming through, some dont have my songs and some are available with downloads to mp3 only. Do you know if ANY vocals are allowed and are songs to be on CD???

In answer to your questions. The guy spoke to Scott for about 40 mins and when asked about backing trax, Scott said he had his own. The guy said because of copyright laws they are only allowed to use certain sites, which he sent via the email. Scott asked if he could use a program to alter the key of the track and the guy said he didnt think so. He didnt mention backing vocals. There was a list of things he had to write on the cd, if you need them i can put on here, hope that helps,

OK…so it looks like we can use Sunfly, Zoom, Easy, Priddis & Ameritz. Ameritz are a bit hit & miss in my view, but since it’s just some music to play behind an audition it’s not so bad.
Priddis are an American company so unless it’s via a UK site that may not be to useful! They are very good quality though!
If they said the tracks need to be on CD does that mean that they can be put on a CDR? Because of the timeframe involved the easiest thing is to download these tracks & burn them onto a CD!
I’m surprised they didn’t include Sing to the World on their lists, since STTW do the official X Factor range!
STTW are still a useful site to check out because they do Zoom & SF tracks at £1.75 each & their service is VERY fast.
Zoom do a number of tracks specifically wothout backing vocals, which may help.
If you want to check any tracks first go to Selectatrack or Custom Burn…they do previews for each track & both do SF & Zoom.
Karaoke Version usually offer 3 versions of each track they do…a guide version (with full vocals), a normal version & a version without backing vocals…they also do previews & their tracks are available for instant download & cost £1.50 each
Miles, Scott was told they cant use trax from other sites, only from the links posted.
Yes, but they won’t know will they? What they mean is that someone has to use tracks BY Sunfly, Zoom etc…whether you get them directly from Sunfly, Zoom etc or from somewhere else is irrelevant surely?
It’s like saying you have to watch a Sony tv but you can only use one purchased direct from Sony! lol
Doesnt work like that, on the CD you have to write all kinds of info, where u got track from etc

These sites are not great. Am I missing something? Some you can’t hear the song or check if there are backing vocals before buying!!!
The reason you can’t hear the tracks on some of the sites is because being the manufaturers they are aimed more at the dealer/retailer or KJs…people who will buy the disc to sell on or to use at their own karaoke show…the other sites I’ve mentioned are aimed more at the customer who will sing the songs, so therefore it’s more sensible for them to give a demonstration of the track first
i think ill be ok because my tracks are made by me so this shouldent be a problem i hope !
But the manufaturers’ tracks will already have a license on them, whereas yours won’t Beth…so best to check first!
If you want to listen to Easy Karaoke, Zoom or Sunfly, go to Selectatrack as they do previews…Custom Burn also do previews for Zoom & Sunfly…sadly Ameritz don’t do previews & whilst some of their tracks are superb others are dreadful, so it’s more pot luck with them. With Priddis tracks the quality of the track itself shouldn’t be an issue…I’ve yet to hear a bad one from them…but whether or not that track has backing vocals or not is another matter…as Beth has said, many karaoke tracks DO have backing vocals, & I assume it’s a performing rights issue as to why you can’t use the,…either that or they want to ensure that the only vocals they hear are yours!
